Starry Night Orlando Senior Portrait Photographer

Jake is a senior about to graduate high school, and was looking for some senior portraits of course!  However, he and his family had something very creative in mind!!  They found our Starry Night Sessions online, and wondered if we’d be willing to try these adventures on a senior portrait session!  Of course, photographer Steven jumped at the idea!!  All of our Starry Night Sessions have either been engagement, wedding or maternity, so of course the next step are senior pictures lol!  As per our usual sessions, we met Jake and his family at the park during the day (our favorite Florida State Park, Kissimmee Prairie Preserve!)  Upon arrival, Steven got to meet his entire family, and we found out that they were actually camping overnight together, how sweet is that?!

We began the session with…well you won’t guess it…a rocket launch!  As we were getting ready to begin the session, our campground host drove up and let everyone know that a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral was taking place shortly; what a great way to start this trip!  After we all watched it enter space, we began with some family portraits, then took Jake around the park for some traditional senior portraits!  His sister just HAD to photobomb one of them :).  Then we began incorporating Jake’s awesome Chevrolet Camaro into some of the photos, what an awesome car it was too!  Notice the matte wrap and stripes around the entire Camaro body!  We couldn’t have asked for better lighting through all of these portraits too, even a double rainbow as we parked the car on the main road in the prairie!  Jake was having a great time and followed direction very well!

As the sun set, we sat down, started a campfire, and enjoyed a quick dinner together, which is always such a great opportunity to get to know each other and relax!  Soon the stars above began to emerge, and before long, the family was viewing the Milky Way Galaxy for their very first time!!  This is always such a special moment to us, as it’s one of the biggest reasons that we created these Starry Night Sessions in the first place!  80% of the populated world has never seen the milky way at all, due to an ever-increasing amount of light pollution.  Worst of all, light pollution is 100% preventable, so we make it our mission to educate and raise awareness to this issue by showing our clients what a truly dark sky is supposed to look like!  As Jake drove the car around to our different photo spots, the family followed behind us, staring up just about the entire time!!  The very first Starry Night portrait we captured of Jake actually had Comet NEOWISE soaring in the background, we were speechless when we saw it appear in the back of our camera!  If we didn’t get the shot, we’d have to wait another 6800 years for our next chance…no big deal ;).

Jake did a fantastic job standing still and following direction for these relatively tough portraits under the night sky!!  Special thanks to Mom for helping us with all of the equipment and the headlights of the Camaro, we really appreciate the assistance!!  We are SO incredibly happy with how these images turned out, and hope we made a lifelong impression on Jake and his family with this once-in-a-lifetime experience!  In another 30 years, we may not even have an opportunity to see dark skies anymore with light pollution increasing on average 2-3% every…single…year.  If you are interested in helping us raise awareness and decrease light pollution, please consider becoming a member of the International Dark Sky Association, for whom we delegate and donate our time!  WE cannot thank Jake and his family enough for sharing this adventure with us, and congratulations on your graduation!! :)
