We truly cannot thank Philip and Alia enough for heading back out under our Florida dark skies for another try at Starry Night portraits! Dark sky photographer Michael took them out earlier this year for their first session under the stars, but the clouds were just too thick to see anything. We took them out once again this month to Florida’s only certified Dark Sky Park (by the International Dark Sky Association), Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park, and once again, nature had other plans, but we did get some quick views of the cosmos, so we were able to get some images this time!
We just loved how Philip and Alia appreciated the clouds in their images. When you live under light-polluted skies, mis-directed light from our streetlights, parking lot lights, dealerships, etc emit so much light that the clouds reflect the light back down to us. Even from Kissimmee Prairie, you can see the light from cities like Orlando, Sebring, Vero Beach, from miles away, but in these cases, it does add some color and perspective to the images! We have to say, it certainly added something different to their starry images for sure, and we’re so glad they’re happy with them! :) Photographer Steven still wants to take them out when our stormy season is over, we hope they’ll take us up on another adventure!!
