Photographer Steven and Photographer Nelson both photographed a corporate conference recently at the Hyatt Regency Orlando, in the Regency Ballroom. The entire evening was dedicated to an award ceremony for a guest of honor within the organization. They hired us to capture all of their evening activities around this event, including a cocktail reception in the foyer, a step and repeat setup during the reception for groups and couples, especially for the guest of honor, then a dinner and the award ceremony inside the Regency Ballroom.
Since there were two photographers, we could split the room for photography. Steven captured photos at the step and repeat while Nelson captured candids and group photos around the cocktail hour, and was able to sneak into the ballroom for setup photos before doors opened to attendees. This is one of the many benefits of hiring two photographers; we can be in two places at once! One of our contacts made sure to point out company VIP’s to Nelson so we could focus on certain group photos they needed. After this, the doors opened into the ballroom for a plated dinner, and we made sure to capture sponsorship signage as well for documentation.
It was such a sweet evening hearing all of the speakers talk about the guest of honor before he received his award, and I captured him accepting his award and posed photo on stage. This is very common during award ceremonies to stage a photographer up front to be ready for all grip and grins, while the other photographer captures different angles of the speakers and audience reactions.
