Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport Retirement Party

Event Photographer Steven Miller had such a great time capturing Rob’s retirement party, which was so poetically hosted at the Orlando International Airport; specifically in the Hemisphere’s Restaurant, within the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport! The reason this location was so poetic is because Rob, who was the star of this party, celebrated his retirement from the aviation industry as an airline pilot (primarily with Southwest Airlines)! His wife, Kathy, helped put everything together, and made sure the room was decorated with Southwest and airline-themed details! Check out the awesome table centerpieces, as well as the custom liquor bottles with Rob’s photo on it! Upon entering Hemisphere’s, guests were greeted by Rob’s grandkids acting as airplane marshalls and ramp agents! You’ll also notice two paintings at the front of the room; both of which were actually painted by hand by one of Rob’s kids, how amazing is that?! DJ Kevin of Kevin Case Entertainment Productions traveled from Boca Raton to provide the live music during their initial cocktail hour, and later for dj and video, which we’ll get to in a moment!

Guests enjoyed appetizers and drinks from Hyatt Regency’s catering team during cocktail hour, and as the photographer, we made sure to focus on greetings, candids, group photos, hugs, smiles, and details of the room! Into the event, DJ Kevin asked guests to take their seats, and we guided Rob into the next room, where Kathy had a special surprise for him. She and the family, with the help of Kevin, put together a short video showcasing Rob’s life in the aviation industry throughout his career, which brought many tears to his eyes! This was such a sweet moment to capture, we’d be lying if we didn’t say Steve even teared up during this! Rob has had such an amazing career, and influenced so many people; so much so that there were at least ten personal speeches given after the video, summarizing Rob’s impact on their lives and even their own career paths! Photographer Steven made sure to capture candids of everyone speaking as well as those listening and their reactions! Rob is truly a man to be proud of and admire, and we really hope he is ready to enjoy his retirement! There were so many tears, smiles and laughs to capture during this retirement party, we cannot thank Kathy enough for hiring us to capture such a special evening, congratulations Rob!! ✈️✈️
