Our photography team is very excited to post Megan and Matthew’s wedding day sneak peek!! These two embarked on an amazing adventure for their wedding, taking their favorite photographers and their guests to Garmisch Partenkirchen, in Germany! If you’ve ever seen the classic Sound of Music film, you can get an idea of what beautiful scenery this wedding location is nestled in; surrounded by the beautiful Bavarian Mountains, crowned with the tallest peak in Germany, Zugspitze! The actual wedding ceremony and reception took place at the Riessersee Hotel, which sits at the foothills of these mountains and overlooks the entire town of Garmisch! To say this area in Germany is an absolute fairytale is an understatement for sure!!
We began their destination wedding day capturing preparations! Photographer Steven started in Megan’s bridal suite overlooking Riessersee (lake) and the Wetterstein mountains, with her bridal hair and makeup services provided by Jerrianne of Beauty by Jerrianne! At the same time, Photographer Michael traveled into town with Matthew and his groomsmen to Ramo’s Barber Shop for an early morning haircut and something Matthew learned about for the first time, threading lol!! We have to say that was a knuckle-biting experience for us too… After they finished up, we proceeded back to Riessersee Hotel to get ready for our first looks!
Once Megan was in her beautiful bridal gown, designed by Stella York, she grabbed her beautiful bridal bouquet by Blumen Rosl, and we proceeded outside for her first look with her father!! His expression was priceless, and then Megan was ready to see her man!! We setup Matthew outside in front of their hotel, and had Megan walk up behind him and tap him on his shoulder (he was pretty tall, so she had to reach for it! ;) ). He turned around, and just about started crying!! (we think he actually did, but he says he didn’t…). We then took this opportunity to capture their bridal party portraits and personal portraits, exploring the amazing scenery surrounding the hotel! We even found a secret overlook with two oversized Adirondack chairs, looking out towards the entire small town of Garmisch Partenkirchen!! We noticed that trees were JUST starting to change colors, so we took advantage of these beautiful fall colors that were starting to emerge! Because the elevation is so high here, it’s common to have mist, fog and rain at all times, but in our opinion it added so much atmosphere to our photos!!
After the portraits, we proceeded to the hotel’s meadow for their outdoor wedding ceremony. The surrounding view…could NOT be beat, and honestly our photos still cannot do it justice!! Megan and Matthew were so excited to exchange their vows, rings, and of course the kiss in front of their family/friends, officiated by their friend Don Moorhead! We couldn’t be happier for them! We followed the ceremony with family portraits before they stepped into cocktail hour (which is possible with first look wedding timelines with us!)
Riessersee Hotel did an amazing job setting up their wedding reception in Riessersee’s Seehaus Restaurant! They were responsible for all of the reception decor and setup, with the beautiful wedding uplighting by DJ Chris! Take a look at the beautiful wedding cake and cookies created by Krönner Konditorei, highlighting all of Megan and Matthew’s world travels together; a perfect fitting for their Germany wedding!! In fact, their wedding cake was introduced with sparklers, and they were able to cut it outside with the beautiful lake and mountains as their backdrop. We had to step back and just appreciate that moment, we’d never have that kind of background here in Florida lol!! The evening party and dancing followed throughout the night, with DJ Chris and his team keeping the dance floor packed! We snuck Megan and Matthew outside at night for some great twilight photos, truly the icing on the cake for us!! Special thanks to Antonia, Louis, and their wedding planning team at Riessersee Hotel for keeping everything and everyone on track throughout the day, we couldn’t have done it all without them! We cannot thank these two enough for traveling us around the globe for this incredible experience! Not only that, but our photographer Steven is pretty convinced this will be his retirement home someday lol!! Congratulations again Megan and Matthew, we hope we can join you on future travels, and hope you enjoy this sneak peek!!
