We recently had an amazing volunteering opportunity with our friends at Falcon’s Fire Golf Club, in Kissimmee, Florida!! Their catering manager Lani let us know about their new wedding venue location called Butterfly Lake!! This venue looks out on a beautiful lake just behind the golf club, tucked away in a natural woodland just a short drive from the parking lot! We worked up a great idea with them about making this lake a true ‘butterfly’ lake, by planting and promoting native, pollinator-friendly plants all around the ceremony location!! Falcon’s Fire traveled to an amazing native nursery called Green Isle Gardens in Groveland, FL, who specialize in pesticide free, 100% Florida Native plants, which is incredibly beneficial for the environment and its wildlife community!! Falcon’s Fire did a great job picking plants, including native milkweed (host plant for the endangered Monarch butterfly!), Porterweed, Spiderwort, Blazing Star, and more!! The best part, crucial pollinators and butterflies flock to these plants for food, shelter, and safe places to host their caterpillars.
Our team jumped on board immediately to bring our tools and help establish and plant these native plants and flowers! We even recruited one of our wedding couples who care just as much about the planet as we do! We all arrived and spent a few hours digging, planting, and watering to make sure they were good to go! Once these plants grow and establish, we’re sure brides and couples will be surrounded by butterflies during their wedding ceremonies, and helping the environment isn’t a bad benefit either! :) We admire Falcon’s Fire so much for their dedication in protecting the environment and caring so much about our local wildlife!! Thank you guys so much for letting us help out such a great cause!!
