Photographers Michael and Steven had an epic time capturing the intimate destination wedding at Mexico Beach, Florida! The town was incredibly charming and had quite a quaint feel! Being so close to the beach, our team was incredibly impressed that the town had an apparent appreciation for proper lighting color and shielding for the sea turtles! We’re sure International Dark Sky Association had something to do with that! We began the day with preparations at Shandy’s bridal prep location, provided by “Luxury by the Sea” by Harmon Realty Vacation Rentals! With the help of makeup artist Paige and hair stylist Amber of Studio Bride, Shandy was able to get ready for their first look! Be sure to check out the beautiful bouquets made by Jasmin Delgado, who also was one of Shandy’s bridesmaids! We love seeing the couple’s friends and family come together to help out with the wedding with their own unique details! Once Shandy was finished getting ready, we captured a sweet first look between her and DJ right in front of the home! After the first look, we captured some personal portraits, as well as bridal party portraits around the house before heading to the wedding ceremony location!
Their gulf-front ceremony was held on the beach itself, and with some incredible luck, we managed to avoid some sporadic rain! Justin with JC3 productions Inc. created the perfect atmosphere with some music during the ceremony! Kristin McKay officiated the wedding, and surrounded by their closest friends and family, Shandy and DJ exchanged their vows and sealed the deal with the much anticipated kiss! Once their wedding ceremony was done, we captured family portraits, bridal portraits, as well as personal portraits on the beautiful beach! Be sure to pay extra special attention to the awesome Ninja-Turtles themed photos incorporated throughout the wedding, one of Shandy and DJ’s awesome ideas!
After portraits, we proceeded back to the house for their indoor wedding reception! The couple had a sweet cake cutting ceremony before heading back out to the beach to send off their Chinese lanterns right on the waters edge! We took advantage of the brilliant night sky on the beach and took a huge group shot with the milky way behind them! It’s honestly so amazing that we were able to see it with the naked eye at our wedding venue. How many photographers get lucky enough to do that?? After the group shot, we captured the party and dancing for the rest of their wedding reception! Catering by Bob did a fantastic job with the delicious dinner, and check out DJ’s surprise groom’s cake, themed after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as well! Also unique for us, after the reception was over we took the couple to an area nearby called Indian Pass to capture some amazing night sky portraits with the milky way and brilliant bright stars! This has to be one of the best places in Florida to view the night sky in its natural state, unscathed by light pollution from populations and cities! We weren’t able to truly capture this next part, but we were also gifted with a few shooting stars, and bioluminescence in the gulf water as it crashed on shore, so beautiful and such a romantic way to end Shandy and DJ’s wedding day! We are so lucky that we got to be part of this special day and we wish the couple all the best for the future!
