Our traveling photographer Michael recently captured one of the coolest kids’ portrait sessions in our portfolio! Maria reached out to us last month about possibly capturing her two boys Iggy and X in one of our favorite locations in the continental United States, Arizona/Utah!
Michael was very quick to book his flights, rental car, and hotel accommodations, and before he knew it, he transported from 100 degree, 100% humidity Florida to 100 degree, 0% humidity Arizona LOL! When traveling for sessions/weddings, we always make sure to arrive at least one day early, in case of travel interruptions or unexpected cancellations, so Michael spent his first day traveling in from Las Vegas, exploring and scouting the area in Utah, conquering a hike, and capturing the gorgeous desert/canyon landscape (some fun photos included below!) We could already see why Maria picked this location, just outside of Page, Arizona! Did you know Page is also home to the iconic Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell, and Antelope Canyon, definitely must-see’s if you visit this area!
We setup and met Maria and the kids bright and early, before sunrise, at the Stud Horse Trail in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, located near their resort Amangiri, their luxury hotel right over the border in Utah. Fun fact, they only host 30 ‘cabins’ at a time at this hotel, and their private views of the canyons are incredible!! As the sun rose over the canyons, Michael captured Iggy and X in their awesome western-themed attire. They were absolute champs considering how early we started, and they were naturals in front of the camera! At Amangiri, every single direction you face rewards you with amazing desert views, so we made sure to stir up our backgrounds as much as possible!
We cannot thank Maria and the boys enough for traveling us out to Arizona/Utah for this fun session, and we feel like we’re part of the family now! We hope you guys had a great trip out West, and can’t wait to see you again soon!!
