Surprise Proposals Salvador Dali Museum St Pete

Jimmy had a very special proposal planned for his girlfriend Donna, and photographer Steven was SO excited when he told us about it and asked us to capture it! One of the first things Jimmy told us is that Donna loves Van Gogh, and her favorite painting is Starry Night…Steven said, yep, we are a perfect fit! Little did they know that we offer real-life Starry Night Sessions to our couples to raise awareness about the night sky and negative effects of light pollution! Currently, there’s a traveling art exhibit called Immersive Van Gogh Exhibition, traveling across the world. Jimmy let us know that the exhibit would be shown at the Salvador Dali Museum in St Pete, and he wanted to pop the question during the Starry Night showing! We absolutely said yes to this, and began planning everything with him secretly!

Steven made sure to arrive early and experience the exhibit solo to get an idea of how it works and the best timing. The exhibit is very exclusive, so timing was everything, to make sure to photograph during the exact image while trying to avoid crowds. Steven made sure he was in the room when Jimmy and Donna entered, and secretly messaged Jimmy as the crowds shifted to find the perfect wall and backdrop. The amazing thing about this exhibit is that all of the paintings are displayed floor-to-ceiling with projectors, which means Steven could not use flash of any kind, making this a tricky shoot! Right as the Starry Night painting was displayed, the crowd cleared a path for Steven, and Jimmy dropped to one knee and popped the question! It was tough to see through the lens, but Steven could tell that Donna was ecstatic and of course said YES! Special thanks to Megan and the team at the Dali Museum, they really helped us pre-plan before Jimmy and Donna arrived, we really appreciate the help! This was such a sweet moment, and we made sure to take them around the museum and outside for some fun portraits showing off that new bling!
