We were so honored to have recently captured the Indian wedding of Sheela and Tony. We spent the day at the Courtyard at Lake Lucerne, near Downtown Orlando. Sheela’s preparations took place in her bridal suite within the Dr. Phillips Mansion on property, where her bridesmaids helped her into her wedding sari and of course we captured some detail shots of Sheela’s henna across her hands and feet. Bridal hair services were provided by Prive Salon and makeup was provided by Salon Dulay Aveda.
We then proceeded to their outdoor ceremony behind the Mansion, held under the gazebo, where their Agni (fire) was burning. A Chair Affair provided the chairs and setup. Tony’s entrance and prayers began the Indian wedding ceremony, with Sheela being introduced later. There are many different Indian Wedding traditions based on their family’s region. We captured their wedding ceremony formalities including the exchanging of the garlands, presentation of jewelry from the groom to the bride, sacrificing rice to the Agni, and the seven circle fire walk, which symbolizes the seven vows the bride and groom make to each other. Sheela’s saree and Tony’s scarf were also tied together, which symbolizes that they will take every step in life together from that moment forward. Tony also tied a necklace called Mangala sutra around Sheela’s neck, making three knots. Each of those knots represent a different aspect of the married woman’s life; obedience to her husband, second to her parets, and third to god, which is a South Indian tradition.
After their ceremony, we took the couple and their wedding party around the property for some fun portraits, and then headed back to the Dr. Phillips Mansion for their reception. Toasts and dancing were held outside in the courtyard, while dinner and the cake cutting ceremony were held within the mansion. Catering services were provided by Millenia Catering, and the beautiful wedding cake was created by Cake Designers. We had such a blast with Sheela and Tony, and are so glad they had us capture their special Indian Wedding! Congratulations guys, and we wish you the very best!
